About the Position: This position is located within a Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) activity. The purpose of this position is to provide analysis and evaluation of medical records for all beneficiaries, and to ensure compliance with local, BUMED, Department of Defense (DOD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and Joint Commission (JC) requirements.

Duties
Enter codes into appropriate data systems.
Verify the correct patient data.
Complete medical record evaluations.
Refer incomplete records back to providers.
Review documentation to determine the primary diagnosis.
Evaluate the order of diagnosis.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes registering new patients into healthcare systems, compiling reports and/or appropriate forms for department, assisting with medical records and/or forms for patients.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
