Duties

You will analyze conventional projects involving designs, maintenance, and repair to identify necessary standard engineering practices. You will certify the completion of engineering documents to verify outstanding issues have been referred to the appropriate personnel. You will confer with contractors or Contract Representatives to evaluate the progress of contract work. You will develop quality assurance procedures by using local policy and procedural guides for specific contracting operations.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Facilities Engineering Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver`s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying engineering concepts, principles and practices to design, lay out, execute and supervise construction operations. Reviewing technical engineering specifications, drawings and statements of work covering complex and diverse engineering designs or changes for constructability and accuracy. Reviewing frequent changes in design or other engineering requirements to assess project impacts; Applying communication and conflict resolution skills to solve challenging and/or contentious issues; Interpreting project schedules to identify project challenges. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
