You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) in the Planning, Design & Construction Division of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG SYSTEMS COMMAND PAC.
A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.90% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.
Duties
You will perform complex military shore facilities and utilities systems engineering projects with the responsibility for developing the complete design of major mechanical engineering features.
You will resolve a variety of difficult and complex problems related to facility design.
You will utilize automated design systems (e.g., Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), Automated Design Technology (ADT)) to prepare layouts, designs, instruction plans, cost estimates, and specifications.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: : 1) Performing engineering technician work in the design of engineering facilities, structures, systems, processes, equipment, devices or materials; 2) Reviewing and preparing designs and project documentation using knowledge and/or experience in related engineering fields (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical) involving production and facilities systems (e.g., heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and utility distribution systems); 3) Utilizing automated design programs (e.g., Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD/CADD), Specs Intact) to produce technical engineering specifications, layouts and drawings of work covering complex and diverse engineering designs and changes; and 4) Conducting site visits to verify existing conditions.
