Duties
Serves as the Security Specialist implementing and maintaining security policy and procedures for all clearance levels in accordance with security directives.
Ensures classified material is properly marked, accounted for, controlled, transmitted, transported, packaged, and safeguarded.
Conducts or otherwise manages SCI/Collateral personnel, information, physical and technical security actions and procedures.
Coordinates and conducts collateral and SCI annual self-inspections.
Official channel for certifying and receiving collateral and SCI visitor clearances/accesses.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. This is the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Certification Program directed by DoD Instruction 3305.13.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential. Employee can be required to remain on duty or report for duty during contingency operations or other emergency situations.
- The incumbent can be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- This position is designated Special-Sensitive requiring the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance in accordance with DoD Manual 5200.02
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-07 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as experience with security policies, security administration, and physical security.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of Education for Experience: You MUST provide transcripts to validate substitute of education claim.
For the GS-09 level: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
