About the Position:
This position is with DoD Education Activity (DoDEA), Office of the Director Office of the Inspector General. It is located at the Mark Center Building in Alexandria, VA.
Duties
Serves as the DoDEA Inspector General (IG), promoting the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of DoDEA programs, functions and operations.
As the Inspector General, oversees all investigations and inquiries into complaints and issues affecting DoDEA and its employees, and plans and oversees the conduct of major inspections and audits concerning the DoDEA's programs and systems.
Executes inspection, audit, assistance, investigative, and teach/train functions on matters critical to the DoDEA Director following four standards: independence, accountability, completeness, and timeliness (IACT)
Manages the work performance of all assigned personnel.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One year trial or probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- One year supervisory probation period may be required.
- This position is a Testing Designated position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. You will be required to sign a DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
- You may be required to sign a transportation agreement.
- Duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.
- Employee must have successfully completed the DoD Joint IG Course within the previous three years or 120 days after assuming position as DoDEA Inspector General.

Specialized Experience GS 15: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Directing the operation, management and administration of an Office of the Inspector General (IG); Overseeing investigations and inquiries into complaints and issues affecting an Agency and its employees; Planning and overseeing the conduct of major inspections and audits of an Agency's programs and systems; Providing advice and guidance on ways to improve operations, morale, and discipline, and accomplishment of Agency's objectives; Performing the full range of supervisory duties for assigned personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
