This announcement will be used for the Hiring Event at the Eglin Golf Course (1527 Fairway Dr. in Niceville) on 13 MARCH 2024 from 0830-1400. This position will be assigned to the Eglin AFB Outdoor Recreation. Those who apply by March 7 may be scheduled for an interview the day of the hiring event.

Duties

Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. May operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc. If interested in applying for this position you may preview the online application: https://apply.usastaffing.gov/ViewQuestionnaire/12336963

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires a satisfactory completion of installation records checks as well as state and national criminal background checks.
  • This position requires an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training. Supporting documentation (i.e., certificates) must be attached to your application in order to be referred as a qualified candidate. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background investigation.
