This position is located within the Patient Care Service (Nursing), Salisbury VA Medical Center, Salisbury, NC. The incumbent serves as the Program Support Assistant for Patient Care Services (PCS) at the Salisbury VA Medical Center, Kernersville and Charlotte Health Care Centers and the Charlotte CBOC for the Wheelchair Program. This role is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the Wheelchair program.

Duties

Provides oversight of wheelchair safety through routine visual inspections for par levels, serviceability, cleanliness, and facilitating needed maintenance repairs at all locations. Track maintenance of wheelchairs in Sharepoint log to ensure each chair has been properly maintained. Provide oversight and coordination of wheelchairs to Engineering for repair and/or deep cleaning. Observe dashboard daily to ensure chairs are properly distributed, deploy chair movers as needed (escorts, volunteers, CWT workers) Initiate work orders for repairs as needed and notifies EMS for wheelchair cleaning needs. Manage the Apple ID system by setting up Apple Air Tag account ensuring the operation of each tag, maintenance of tags and replacement of tags as needed. Maintain the office supplies inventory. The Wheelchair Program Manager will coordinate with the HCC staff and volunteers to transport the chairs to the VAMC quarterly for deep cleaning Serve as alternate timekeeper for Charlotte HCC, Kernersville HCC, Mental Health, Ambulatory Service, Acute Care, Community Living Center, and Administration Patient Care Services departments. Coordinate and assist with planning recurring events, conferences, etc. including set up of VANTS/V-TELs, procuring canteen services when necessary, procuring audio visual equipment, coordinating room set up. Produce letters, memorandums, and to prepare a variety of specific working documents and forms such as spreadsheets, database, word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, and other similar products. Performs other related duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm or Supervisor Discretion. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/15/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of the rules, procedures, operations, functions, and commitments applied to clerical assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office, such as screening calls and visitors, maintaining supervisor's calendar, preparing, reviewing, and editing documents, locating and assembling information for various reports, maintaining files and records, and making and preparing travel arrangements. Ability to organize filing systems and suspense files to allow for easy retrieval of information and preservation of confidentiality. Knowledge of computer hardware/software, processing procedures and function keys required to execute several basis office automation functions. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 60 semester hours. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Attention to DetailClericalTechnical Competence Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and includes activities necessary in filing and transporting light items, such as files, papers, and small equipment items.
