About the Position: Serves as a Medical Assistant for Ambulatory Care.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Eight hours shifts from 0630-1530, 0730-1630, or 0800-1700 one hour lunch. Perform duties in any of several Primary Care areas such as Family Medicine Clinic/, Community Based Medical Homes, and Soldier Care Medical Homes, Army Health Clinics/Troop Medical Clinics. Weekends/Holidays: Occasionally 1-3 times per year.
Duties
Make entries on MHS Genesis, and Tri-Service Workflow Form (TSWF) and other required databases
Perform general maintenance duties including cleaning and arranging supply carts, cleaning and sorting supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Instruct patients and families on various subjects, such as the proper procedure or following receipt of immunization in accordance with established protocols.
Restock supplies necessary to conduct patient care and clinic operations.
Receive telephone calls, patients, and visitors to the medical facility, ascertaining the nature of the call or visit.
Schedule appointments with the appropriate clinic and health care provider dependent on patient disposition, complaint or symptoms, or services requested.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation (NACI) to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- Childcare Background Checks and Investigation (CNACI). This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This is an inclement weather position.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes recording blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, and weight; and/or assembling needles and syringes to administer medications subcutaneously, intramuscular, intradermal, Z-Tract, and or performing clerical duties such as assisting with patient inquires and /or preparing paperwork for laboratory work within a medical treatment facility.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, Phlebotomy, Health Technician, Health Sciences, or Health Services.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
