About the Position: Logistics Management Specialist with AMCOM, TMDE Activity Management and Operations division located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. This position is obligated. Position may be filled as a temporary promotion, reassignment, or change to lower grade NTE 1 YEAR by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions, may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

Duties

Develop and coordinate operations, mobilization, contingency logistic support plans to ensure that Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) support is uninterrupted during emergency, mobilization for war and other critical situations. Apply analytical and evaluative methods/techniques concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of the TMDE program operations. Analyze data automation policies, regulations and procedures to determine their impact on US Army TMDE Integrated Materiel Management System (TIMMS). Express facts and ideas in a succinct and organized written manner.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
  • Required to travel TDY up to 20% of the time.
  • Required to obtain a level II Acquisition Certification in the career field of Life Cycle Logistics within 24 months of entry on duty.

GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Develops, prepares, and presents logistic management related correspondence and briefings; (2)Participates in reviewing, analyzing, and developing strategies, maintenance allocation plans, and other logistical documentation for indicators of logistics/readiness problems with Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)/Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) supportability; (3)Identifies and alerts higher-graded specialists of suspected program shortfalls and complex logistics problems beyond the scope of local solution. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). GS 12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Reviewing, analyzing, and developing strategies, maintenance allocation plans, and other logistical documentation for indicators of logistics/readiness problems with Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)/Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) supportability; (2) Identifies and recommends solutions to suspected program shortfalls and complex logistics problems.; (3) Analyzing data and producing management and statistical reports on logistic support of TMDE produced from TMDE logistic data bases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this GS-12, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
