About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Army Medical Center Madigan, Department of Pediatrics, located at Tacoma, Washington and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Duties
Utilize a working knowledge of healthcare administration and business practices, implement strategies to maximize practice capacity for enrollment and workload in support of the organization performance plan.
Assist in the development and implementation of effective patient care systems to achieve practice compliance with MEDCOM policies, manuals, and Operations Orders for the practice.
Ensures staff is properly trained in all aspects of risk and safety, including infection control, environmental hazards, and medication errors.
Participate in interviews, selection, and orientation of employees.
Manage the staffing of the practice based on established Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at the GS-07 level in Federal service which includes 1) Utilize system databases to measure patient enrollment, satisfaction, quality measures, access, productivity, and primary care continuity; 2) Use of patient care systems for scheduling, and canceling appointments and submitting patient referrals; 3) Train staff on infection control, environmental hazards and medication errors; 4) Perform staffing matters such as conduct interviews, selection of personnel, disciplinary actions and training of employees.

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
