This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology, Info Security & Privacy Group (ISPG), Division of Security & Privacy Compliance (DSPC) in Woodlawn, MD.
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (SECURITY), GS-2210-14, you will serve as the Director's "alter ego" and exercise administrative and technical direction and control over the division's functional responsibilities and its staff.
Duties
Assist in providing leadership direction over the activities of the Division.
Share fully in the management of all phases of the work for the organization with the exception of policy setting or precedent decision-making responsibilities.
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Reviews work performance of subordinates.
Conducts formal performance appraisals through the agency performance management program.
Give advice and counsel employees on both work and administrative matters.
Ensures quality management principles are assimilated into the Division’s work by analyzing and
identifying work barriers and developing ways to reduce them.
Promote team building, and improving of work processes.
Manage the CMS Data Privacy Safeguards Program to ensure compliance with privacy and security requirements of CMS Data used by external entities.
Serve as a liaison to contacts throughout OIT, CMS, the government, and industry stakeholders relating to supervised programs.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 grade level, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume IT related experience, demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that you possess each of the following four competencies:
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
(4) Problem-Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
AND
At least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
(1) Overseeing internal security and privacy controls for risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and/or gap analyses to better support programs and activities throughout the enterprise;
(2) Providing guidance on Information Technology (IT) security and privacy compliance to stakeholders; AND (3) Analyzing IT security and privacy requirements to determine risk to an organization's programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
