About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), Information Technology Laboratory (ITL), Computational Science and Engineer Division (CSED), Institute for Systems Engineering Research (ISER). This is a Supervisory Interdisciplinary position being filled at the Full Performance level DB-04 (GS-12/14).

Duties

Serves as the Chief of the Institute for Systems Engineering Research (ISER) of the Computational Science and Engineering Division (CSED) at the Information Technology Laboratory (ITL), U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). Ensures technical quality of the research, working within time and budget constraints, and providing the short- and long-term resources for research executed in the Branch. Ensure technical quality of systems engineering, operations research, and modeling, and simulation research to address problems of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Army, and other Federal Agencies. Aid in the transfer knowledge and methods gained among other federal agencies and institutions to ensure that technological developments are accessible to a wider range of users. Conducts performance evaluations, recruits new personnel, initiates promotion and award actions. Demonstrates a high level of technical and professional competence to continually develop and execute new technology research. Provides input towards strategic planning to Division Chief, Technical Director’s office, and ITL Executive Office.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period may be required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
  • This position requires pre-employment Financial Disclosure Statement OGE Form 450 and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
