About the Position:
This position is with the HQ, US Army Corps of Engineers, Contingency Operations, Washington, DC.
Current permanent Army employee; this position will be filled from employees eligible for temporary promotion or a temporary reassignment. This position may be converted to permanent without further competition.
Duties
Serves as the Administrative Specialist for assigned Division.
Resolves a variety of substantive problems related to the preparation, and administrative processing of staff actions and special projects.
Researches background information for required actions through use of automated databases, historical files and review of previous or current studies/projects on related topics.
Tracks travel budget and maintains records in sufficient detail to provide review of budgeted/expended funds.
Serves as the Information Management Officer and key focal point of contact for coordinating IT requirements for the directorate.

ADDITIONAL ABOUT THE POSITION:
Current Army Employees; The position is temporary not to exceed one (1) year with provisions to extend in increments of up to one (1) year for a total of (5) years. This position may be converted to permanent without further competition for current Army employees.
If you are any of the other eligibilities, this position is Temporary position not to exceed 12 months, with provisions to extend up to a maximum of five years.
Position is being filled at the GS-07 or target GS-09 grade level. Duties described reflect the full performance GS-09 level. Duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under close supervision.
Management may select at any of the grade levels announced. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management.

In addition to meeting the education requirements for the above series, you must also meet the following:
Experience required for the GS-07 Grade Level: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assists and advises staff and action officers on all procedural and administrative aspects of staff actions. Assists in maintaining filing system/log of all incoming and outgoing correspondence, TDY vouchers, travel requests and supply/requisition receipts.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Experience required for the GS-09 Grade Level: One year of specialized experience which includes: Serves as the directorate authority on all correspondence policies. Advises the staff and action officers on all procedural and administrative aspects of staff actions. Maintains filing system/log of all incoming and outgoing correspondence, TDY vouchers, travel requests and supply/requisition receipts. Coordinates travel arrangements, prepares timely travel orders, travel vouchers, and training requests in the current automated financial system, and meeting agendas for assigned personnel.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
