About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Senior Protocol Specialist for 1AD and Fort Bliss with minimum/general supervision from the Chief of Protocol Director. Individually formulates, develops, plans, coordinates, and executes official functions, events, conferences and ceremonies.
Duties
Coordinate all major conferences within the Command to prevent scheduling conflicts
Establish and maintain successful professional relationships with senior level officials.
Advise on military and civilian protocol matters such as proper ceremonial forums, honors, courtesies and etiquette.
Assist with the preparation and execution of social function
Generate and maintain Protocol Database and Website for the organization
Provide input to the development of the Protocol Office annual operating budget as designated custodian of the Commanding General's
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- A valid state driver's license is required

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience is defined as one year of specialized experience which includes which includes experience with protocol responsibilities and functions such as ceremonial forums, honors, courtesies, and etiquette. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Political Science, International Relations, Business Administration/Management (list is not inclusive). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
