The incumbent will serve as an Advanced Practice Nurse (Diagnostic Imaging) within the Radiology Department. The ideal candidate will have experience in a radiology department or an acute healthcare setting.
Duties
Coordinating imaging procedures for patients referred to RADIS for diagnostic imaging consultation and complex studies.
Preparing for imaging studies, places or approves medical orders for contrast materials after reviewing laboratory results for normal and abnormal findings.
Predicting and analyzing trends in patient condition and develops a patient imaging management plan in response to the data obtained.
Performing emergency management assessment on patients with adverse or unanticipated events in imaging areas; initiates emergency measures and provides assessments to physicians
Providing follow-up care including documentation and communication with patients, families and health care teams for patients with adverse events in diagnostic imaging areas.
Serving as the senior expert in medication management including contrast material safety procedures and coordinates with pharmacy department new guidelines related to contrast agents or other commonly used medications in imaging.

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
A. Possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. NOTE: Degree from a Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
AND
B. You must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) or you obtained licensure before the implementation of the NCLEX-RN. Individuals who have not passed the NCLEX-RN, but meet all other qualification requirements will be subject to a comprehensive evaluation of both their education and experience prior to final appointment.
AND
C. Possess a current, active, full and unrestricted license, or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position.

Additional Qualifications:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Coordinating imaging procedures for patients referred for diagnostic imaging consultation and complex studies; providing counseling on risks/benefits of imaging procedures or contrast agents to providers or health care team members; developing and providing resources to patients for education undergoing diagnostic imaging studies; screening patients and imagining requisitions for appropriateness of imaging studies based on patients medical records, interviews and assessments; and reviewing imaging results and studies in collaboration with radiologist physician staff to communicate patient's findings and/or make recommendations for further study.
