DUTIES:
Serve as a first-line supervisor: perform typical personnel management tasks; assign and manage engineering work within the Propulsion Branch or Guidance Branch, organize and conduct training; acquire necessary resources to accomplish the mission; and provide feedback and evaluations for assigned employees.
Manage engineering workload for assigned area of responsibility, direct technical evaluations, and lead reviews of technical documentation for MMIII.
Serve as the primary technical interface for programmatic decisions, providing system knowledge, leading technical discussions, removing technical roadblocks for the program, and briefing senior level stakeholders.
Assure that engineering rigor/discipline is applied during MMIII acquisition, life cycle sustainment activities, and maintain the trust and authority of the Branch Lead Engineer and Chief Engineer to make technical baseline changes to the MMIII weapon system.
Mentor, lead, guide and direct engineers within the Propulsion or Guidance Branch on technical issues; assure that assigned employees work as a cohesive team; and provide employees with opportunities that foster professional career development.
HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS:
Five or more years of relevant engineering experience.
Experience with acquisition, design, development, and/or life cycle sustainment of a product/system with complex engineering and management challenges.
Strong technical skills in engineering, sufficient to identify technical gaps and deficiencies in contractor deliverables that will require attention.
Experience in inertial guidance, ordnance, propulsion systems, and/or systems engineering processes.
Experience with the Minuteman III ICBM.
Demonstrated skill in leading, training, mentoring or managing personnel.
Experience to include requirement definition, design reviews, testing, test plans and test reports reviewing drawings and analysis, planning validation and verification events.
Knowledge in DoD acquisition processes, to include but not limited to risk processes and configuration control board processes.
Strong leadership and communication skills.

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain either a Top-Secret or Secret security clearance (depending on the position).
- Employee will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This is a drug testing designated position and is subject to random drug testing.
- Supervisory requirements may be required depending upon the position being filled.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
- Employee may be required to meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management “Practitioner” certification category within required timeframe after appointment.

5. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.
