You will serve as a FIRE PREVENTION INSPECTOR in the Fire and Emergency Services of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA.

Duties

You will identify hazardous conditions or practices to determine appropriate corrective action. You will advise building officials on corrective action needed for code violations. You will prepare materials for situational or classroom training at installation fire prevention activities (e.g., Fire Prevention Week, Open Houses). You will research technical manuals, fire codes, and trade references to reduce or eliminate fire hazards or conditions.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting fire safety training to groups; 2) Eliminating or reducing hazards where the expectancy and potential for severity is high; 3) Inspecting buildings for potential fire hazards (e.g. obstructed exits, presence of combustible materials, etc.); 4) Adapting fire protection/prevention techniques to correct conditions or hazardous situations; and 5) Responding to emergencies to conduct firefighting duties. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
