You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Public Safety, Fire and Emergency Services Division of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA.
Duties
You will lead a crew of three or more firefighters assigned to staff a pumper, aerial ladder truck, or rescue vehicle in firefighting and rescue operations.
You will advise senior leaders (e.g., Supervisory Fire Protection Inspector) on fire prevention or fire protection systems inspections and maintenance programs.
You will determine the potential harm of hazardous material to people and the environment.
You will assess a junior firefighter or employee work performance to determine if performance objectives are being met.
You will brief fire investigation findings to senior leaders.
You will prepare inspection reports to document findings of fire safety deficiencies.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action; 2) Operating firefighting vehicles and equipment in accordance with principles of hydraulics and firefighting techniques; 3) Providing emergency assistance (first aid, HAZMAT, etc.) in accordance with safety standards and regulations; 4) Applying the theory of fire propagation and progression to reduce fire hazards and/or combat fires; and 5) Leading a crew of firefighters (i.e. directing drills, assigning work, etc.)NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for this position.
This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-09: Firefighter I & II, Fire Officer I & Il, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HAZMAT Awareness, Operations, Technician, and Incident Commander, Driver Operator Pumper, and possess National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) or State Basic Life Support (EMT - B certification). These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
