You will serve as a Lead Fire Protection Inspector in the Fire and Emergency Services Division of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA.

Duties

You will inspect structures during construction or renovation to verify adherence to fire safety. You will perform a fire protection inspection of a building or storage facility to identify actual or potential fire hazards or fire safety deficiencies. You will set work priorities to achieve optimum economy and efficiency of fire operations. You will present fire protection and prevention education or training to employees. You will inspect fire prevention systems (extinguishers, sprinklers, standpipes, carbon dioxide flooding systems, etc.) to verify required maintenance is performed.

  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
  • This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservations program.
  • Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assigning work to subordinates to balance workload in the face of competing priorities; 2) Developing a fire protection and prevention education and training program to educate firefighters and the general public on fire safety; 3) Performing fire inspections to identify fire hazards and recommend prevention techniques; 4) Reviewing new construction and renovation plans to ensure projects are compliant with building codes and fire protection ordinances.
