About the Position:
This position is with DoD Education Activity HQ. Office of the Chief of Staff Ombuds and Resolution Services Branch in Alexandria, VA.
Duties
Serve as an informal, independent, confidential, and neutral third-party technical expert who is responsible for delivering and maintaining the integrity of the ADR/CM Program through a variety of ADR/CM strategies.
Serves as an impartial and neutral third party, promotes resolving workplace conflicts at the earliest stage and lowest possible level of conflict and maintains confidentiality while performing these duties.
Coordinates and conducts meditations, group facilitation, and conflict coaching.
Serve as technical ADR/CM expert and resource to other organizational components.
Utilizes a variety of alternative dispute resolution strategies, provide parties with resolution options, and facilitate their interactions to promote successful resolution.
Provides consultation to management officials to assist in the prevention, management, and resolution of organizational conflict.
Leads outreach to DoDEA workforce and external stakeholders on the agency’s ADR/CM activities to promote the use of conflict prevention and resolution.
Prepares documents, briefings and reports for management and staff.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

- One year trial or probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- Duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Developing, implementing, and managing ADR/CM initiatives, programs. Procedures, and policies that maintain the integrity of an agency ADR/CM Program; Experience serving as a facilitator, mediator, conflict coach, and/or practitioner for workplace dispute resolution; Experience collecting, maintaining, and analyzing program data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
