The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland's (USAO-MD) mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible.
Duties
This Information Technology Specialist provides technical and advisory assistance to support the information technology needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), District of Maryland.
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Information Technology Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Maryland, located in Baltimore, Maryland and Greenbelt, Maryland, focusing in the areas of customer support, IT systems/network administration, and information systems security.
Typical work assignments will include:
Planning and delivering customer support services to include installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Maintaining and managing networked systems used for transmission of information in voice, data and/or video formats.
Testing and implementing the district's information security programs.
Assisting in litigation support and case management services related to the organization's information tehcnology needs.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Individual Occupational requirements as noted below. To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:
Individual Occupational requirements
You must have information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
1) Attention to Detail - Follow technical documentation methods and procedures.
2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to troubleshoot IT related issues.
3) Oral Communication - Expresses technical information to nontechnical individuals or groups effectively. AND
4) Problem Solving - Assisting to identify IT related problems.(This experience must be displayed on your resume/supporting documents.)
AND
To qualify at the GS-05 level, you must possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) two (2) of the three (3) duties listed below:
Installing and/or configuring hardware or software systems;
Resolving hardware and/or software problems;
Providing user training for hardware, software and/or internet applications.
OR
Possess four academic years of education above the high school level (e.g. Bachelor's degree) in a closely related field (e.g., computer science, information systems management, technology management), or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (3) of the (4) duties listed below:
Evaluating established Information Technology methods or procedures to prepare recommendation for change;
Upgrading and/or troubleshooting hardware or software systems within the organization;
Developing and/or maintaining internet, intranet or organization's website;
Planning or coordinating litigation support through the use of information technology (i.e. developing data/graphics representation of evidence for courtroom use).
OR Possess one full year of graduate education in a closely related field (e.g., computer science, information systems management, technology management), or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
OR (Superior Academic Achievement) - A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or a degree that provided 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks, and meet at least one of the following criteria: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 OR at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in my major field OR based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; or election to membership on a national scholastic honor society.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-04is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 level. One year at the GS-05is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases).
