About the Position: This position is a Transportation Assistant (Inspection / Office Automation), GS-2102-07, located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 404th Field Support Brigade in Fort Johnson, Louisiana.
This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.
Duties
Qualify carriers for storage of DOD sponsored personal property shipments through inspections.
Identify deficiencies in packing methods and requirements to determine extent and severity of any potential problem area.
Manage pertinent documentation and forms in order to support actions and inspection's results.
Identify deficiencies in shipments and packaging for corrective action.
Check for evidence that packing is correct on material being delivered.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 20% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate valid state driver's license.
- May be required to work various hours to include holidays, weekends, or on-call duty.
- Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government vehicle operation certificate, within 30 days of employment.
- A qualified typist (at least 40 wpm with 3 or fewer errors) is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) identify deficiencies in preestablished checklists 2) document, report, and track via automated system 3) Possess astute communication ability with customer engagement. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Transportation, Business, Logistics or another related field of study. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
