About the Position: Serves as the Deputy to the Director of Aviation Operations with responsibility to assist in the planning, coordination, execution, and supervision of all matters pertaining to the Directorate.
Duties
Perform a wide range of managerial tasks relating to planning, managing, directing, and controlling current and future operations, administration, budget, training, and logistics of the Directorate.
Responsible for and participates fully in managing activities of the Directorate with authority to make decisions and conduct the business of the organization in all areas.
Advise management officials in the accomplishment of operations, administration, manpower, budget, training, and logistics requirements.
Work with representatives of the Civilian Human Resources Agency (CHRA) on unusual matters pertaining to position management, recruitment, grievances, appeals and training/career management.
Oversee the performance of regular and special statistical, financial and productivity analyses and evaluations of short and long-range requirements for the use of Directorate resources such as property, manning, infrastructure, and funding.
Advise top managers of the installation of Directorate problems that affect their programs.
Review and develop implementation plans for new or changed laws, policies, and regulations affecting Directorate programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
