About the Position: This is a permanent position with the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE), Command Element, Office of the Chief of Staff, G3 Academics, Instruction, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Noncompetitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.

Duties

The duties of this position are for the full performance level. The duties at the GS-09 are the same but with closer than normal supervision. Provide expert advice on Army model and simulation systems to the MSCoE training and operational communities, focusing on the integration of simulations into training for mission requirements. Participate in the development, equipping and maintenance of simulation product repositories and interoperability standards development. Monitor the overall effectiveness of existing simulation training programs across the multiple MSCoE School commands. Assist in overseeing the day-to-day delivery of constructive simulations training to the three MSCoE Schools and the NCO Academy. Serve as an instructor and facilitator for students and cadre on the use of constructive simulation systems, digital communication systems and gaming systems. Assist in evaluating educational practices and trends within the modeling and simulations field. Conduct routine liaison with MSCoE and School Modeling and simulation personnel to insure that G3 Training-Instruction Branch is part of a coordinated effort for instruction and system application throughout the Fort Leonard Wood community. Monitor the use of modeling and simulation systems for training leaders and organizational staff at the Combat Training Centers and Mission Training Complexes. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty, the requirements of the assignments and the capabilities of employees. Develop performance plans and evaluate performance of subordinates.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • May be required to work weekends, evenings and holidays.

  • This position requires a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes development, equipping and maintenance of model and simulation product repositories and interoperability standards development; review and research policy related to simulations and its integration into a training architecture and how it can be used to support Programs of Instruction; maintain all hand receipts, expendable/durable document registers and property book records for requisitions submitted for supplies turned in to the Property Disposal Office.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
