About the Position: Responsible for the issue, accountability, maintenance and security of weapons, sensitive items, radio systems and ammunition in the consolidated arms room.

Duties

Responsible to the Chief of Guard for the issue, accountability, maintenance and security of weapons, sensitive items, Land Mobile Radio Systems (LMRS) and ammunition in the consolidated arms room. Assist the DES logisticians with supply actions. Provide assistance with minor repairs of unit-level small arms, specialty weapons, ordering and replacing weapon and radio parts. Perform supply technician duties in support of the DES supply technician. Responsible for forecasting, requisitioning, receiving, delivering, transporting, issuing, and reconciling/turning in small arms ammunition and explosives to support weapons ranges field training exercises, and the operational load.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed SECRET background investigation.
  • Position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Incumbent is required to complete an initial and annual Physical Exam.
  • Incumbent may be expected to travel 25% or less of the time for this position.
  • Position has a requirement to lift up to 70 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
