Qualifications

What are we looking for? Must possess a master's degree from a college or university with a program nationally accredited in social work or psychology, marriage and family therapy, licensed professional counseling, or in a related behavioral health field.Highest licensure by a State or National regulatory board that authorizes independent clinical practice that is current, valid, unrestricted and in good standing in at least one of the following: clinical social work, licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed professional counselor, or clinical psychologist that meet the DoD requirements.  Must provide a photocopy of licensure with their application.Tier III must have engaged in at least two years post licensure, that includes at least 2,000 hours post licensure or 4,000 hours post graduate degree, full-time clinical experience in a clinical setting. Two of these years must include documented post-licensure clinical experience in substance use disorder treatment.Must have at least two years of post-licensure experience as a clinical supervisor of professional clinical providers.Certified substance abuse counselor (Alcohol and Drug Counselor II, International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium substance abuse counselor certification, or stat equivalent) required at time of hire.Expert knowledge of Marine Corps substance abuse policies, directives and regulations. Make recommendations significantly changing or developing programs. Knowledge of the SACC budgetary goals and objectives. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the USMC model and continuum of care. Expert knowledge of substance misuse issues within the Marine Corps and related program policies, procedures, and regulations to serve as an installation subject matter expert is highly preferred. Skill to plan, organize, and direct both internal and interdisciplinary clinical team meetings and to communicate effectively with management and command toward understanding and utilization of SAP services. Expert knowledge of the concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to substance misuse within an active duty population and evidence-based and evidence-informed counseling techniques.  Ability to provide clinical supervision of subordinates individually and in group settings.  Ability to teach therapeutic techniques in prevention and intervention for substance misuse to subordinates.  Skill and ability to apply this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments, and in the development of new methods, approaches, and non-medical counseling procedures.  Ability to review and evaluate a wide range of training aids and materials. Expert skill and ability to review client's bio-psychosocial history to develop comprehensive individualized service plan. Must be able to properly document interview findings.  Ability to assess the needs of the clients, provide non-medical counseling services to clients in recognition of their substance use and misuse, and recommend techniques and goals during the counseling phase.  Ability to present higher level command briefings, court testimonies, and conduct liaison, in-service, etc.  Ability and skill to prepare accurate written case documentation involving multiple service goals and more complex cases, general correspondence, congressional correspondence, and staff papers.Will be required to obtain a clearance at the Tier 3 level to satisfy IT Level II designation access and enter information to the Alcohol and Drug Management Information Tracking System (ADMITS), if access is to ADMITS is required to fulfill the requirements of this position.  Appointment and continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of the security investigation.In accordance with SECNAVINST 1754.8, will be required to obtain a tier III credential and clinical privilege by submitting an application to the HQMC credential and review board.
