About the Position: Serve as the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA), Government Information Specialist. Incumbent is the principal action officer assigned to the Chief of Staff of Army Public Affairs. Execute Security/pre-publication review, OCPA's security and pre-publication review program, reviewing and approving for public release professional writings, AV products, and defense industry marketing materials. Position located at the Pentagon, Arlington, VA.
Duties
Manage the response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA) records and documents.
Monitor FOIA requests from the media and requests regarding subjects of significant interest.
Coordinate Continuity of Operations (COOP) program planning requirements for COOP.
Serve as OCPA's representative to the COOP Working Group (G-3).
Develop public affairs doctrine, policy, and procedures related to the Emergency Management Program (EMP).
Maintain Protection Program records in accordance with agency regulations.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- You may be expected to travel up to 5% for this position.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from the media regarding subjects of significant interest; researching, reviewing and/or approving public release professional writings, Audio visual products, and/or defense industry marketing materials; and conducting oversight of materials ensuring organization mission essential functions (MEFs) are planned for. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
