Duties
Serves as a biologist to advance best practices and standards to accurately measure and model atmospheric greenhouse gas (GHG) uptake and emissions from urban vegetation. Use of remote optical methods such as satellite-based, solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) relating such data to ecological properties of vegetation. Performs radiometric calibration of remote sensing observing instruments and uses such data to determine instrument uncertainty and traceability to the SI.

Individual Occupational Requirements
Basic Requirements
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to the basic requirement outline above, this position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 (ZP-2 at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in the calibration of optical instruments using radiometric standards and spectrometric/radiometric instruments and in their use for measuring vegetative emissions, for example via solar induced fluorescence or infrared radiometry
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
a combination of education and experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
