The House Security Division provides a centralized location to facilitate the transmittal of all security clearances, background investigations, and control of classified documents for the House of Representatives. In addition, the House Security Division is tasked with administering the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) available for use by Leadership, Committees, and Members for classified briefings.
Duties
Duties:
Administers classified counterintelligence, counterterrorism and operational security briefings to Members of Congress and Congressional staff traveling overseas.
Administers unclassified security training materials and safety protocol recommendations to Members of Congress and Congressional staff traveling overseas.
Serves as a liaison between House of Representatives Members and staff to the State Department, FBI, NSA, and CIA regarding foreign travel security concerns.
Coordinates with appropriate intelligence agencies (ODNI, FBI, CIA, NSA, NCTC and State Department) to maintain situational awareness of foreign threats to Members of Congress and staff.
Administers the classified document control system for the House of Representatives.
Serves as a liaison between House of Representatives staff and DOD, DOE, and CIA regarding security clearance processes.
Facilitates in transporting classified information to off-site locations for appropriate disposal.
Assists with security inspections of assigned House offices to determine the suitability to store classified information.
Assists and supervises with safe implementation of assigned House offices to ensure only approved safes are properly storing classified information and House staff are following the required security procedures.
Supports House operations recovery structure.
Assists Director with special projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Experience and Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a military, law enforcement, industrial security, or an intelligence organization. Candidate has four or more years of experience relevant to this position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of policies and procedures of the House of Representatives and United States Capitol Police; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; strong computer skills; ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement in a variety of situations; ability to maintain a professional and courteous work disposition; ability to be tactful and courteous in dealings with Members, staff, and the general public; ability to work well under pressure, ability to exercise discretion and sound judgement while independently solving problems; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to perform and manage special projects; and the ability to lift multiple 10 pound bags of paper material.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, permanent. Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Must be able to work outside of normal business hours, when necessary, evenings and weekends as needed.
