This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity. The incumbent serves as Executive Secretary to the Director, Defense Support Services Center (DSSC). DSSC is organizationally complex, comprised of professional, technical, and administrative personnel under the direction of the Director. Work is performed independently with incumbent responsible for using initiative, tact, and judgment.
Duties
As a EXECUTIVE SECRETARY at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Serves as the Executive Secretary and key advisor to the DSSC Director, performing a variety of administrative and technical support, relieving the Director of detailed planning relating to a wide variety of complex management projects, issues, and initiatives.
Manages the operational schedule of the Director and develops and maintains the Director's short- and long-range calendar.
Schedules pre-briefs, and answers specific questions pertaining to events and activities involving the Director and then integrates the information requirements of the Staff and identifies appropriate external sources to provide preparatory information in advance of briefings and schedule accordingly.
Responsible for a broad range of administrative services and administrative management matters to assist with the day-to-day operations of the DSSC front office.
Manages incoming and outgoing correspondence within the organization, ensuring accuracy and conformance to current guidelines.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
1. Review, analyze, and control all Executive and Senior Government Official level correspondence to ensure documents are prepared in accordance with applicable policy and regulations.
2. Develop administrative management plans to assist with tracking, monitoring, and maintaining suspense and ownership controls on all actions.
3. Coordinates with a diverse set of officials (contractors, senior leaders) to ensure programs and initiatives are in keeping with the mission.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
