Duties
As a Public Health Analyst (Policy and Issues Management) you will:
Responsible for external communications on matters related to program activities and program related public health and health policies to policy-oriented audiences as well as to members of the public.
Draft Congressional testimony regarding proposed legislation, public health problems, CDC strategies, programmatic activities and responses to public health challenges as well as other issues related to public health and public health policy.
Manage briefings, hearings, and visits involving Members of Congress, Congressional staff and Executive Branch staff.
Identify appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs,) prepares SMEs for Congressional and state legislative audiences, develop talking points.
Develop and maintain systems to analyze complex and highly visible actions such as legislation, executive directives, Departmental policy issuances, voluntary changes in practice by influential organizations or groups.
Prepare written analytic reports in support of major strategic planning and evaluation programs and initiatives for use of the organization's leadership including top management; as well as members of federal agencies; state and local public health and environmental protection agencies; and other key partners.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience in developing and advising on matters related to the organization's strategic direction, status and impact of policies; and developing and maintaining initiatives to advance the mission of the team with the organization's mission and long and short-term goals.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to
