About the Position: This is a Plans Analyst position with US Army Training and Doctrine Command, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 at Fort Eustis, VA. Fort Eustis, VA is located in Newport News, between historic Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. The Hampton Roads/Tidewater area has all the conveniences of a big city with charm of small town and rural areas.
Duties
As a Plans Analyst, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
As an operational and strategic planner, military analyst and expert consultant, works directly with various staff elements to ensure operational and strategic planning issues are fully coordinated.
Establishes and leads TRADOC working groups and operational planning teams to develop senior leader options and solutions.
Participate in and support DA and HQ TRADOC conferences, workshops, briefings, and operational planning teams to effect Army transformation through strategic planning execution.
Represents the directorate and as appropriate G-3/5/7 in a variety of forums associated with operational or strategic planning.
Research, coordinate, and prepare briefings for HQ TRADOC and G-3/5/7 leadership to communicate current and future strategic planning efforts.
Serves on HQ TRADOC study teams and responds to a variety of short suspense point papers, read aheads, and briefings to support special projects and taskers.
Develop TRADOC positions, plans and orders to support critical issues associated with the development, planning, management, and implementation of definitive plans and strategies.
Develop detailed tasks, goals, and objectives for long-range strategic plans, implementation and administration of supporting plans and/or developing criteria for evaluation of the effectiveness of the strategy.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
- Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 5% of the time.
- May be required to complete a one year probationary period if not previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work such as: 1) developing and updating long-range strategy and business plans; 2) conduct studies, prepare and present briefings, and prepare staffing papers; 3) integrating and executing strategic business initiatives.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
