About the Position: Serves as the District's Security Specialist performing duties related to physical security, law enforcement, crime prevention, and information security and conducts investigations and inquiries into violations of laws, regulations, and security measures..

Duties

Assist employees with inputting personal information into the Personnel Security Investigation Portal (PSIP) to complete the Electronic Questionnaire for Investigation Processing. Coordinates all New Employee Security training with new hires and tracks completion. Provides a briefing to employees who hold security clearance when they retire, resign or transfer to another job. Maintains the Security Office Website and maintain cross match Fingerprint machine. Responsible for observing all applicable safety rules, regulations, and directives.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position is covered by the Civilian drug testing Program.
• A valid State Driver's License in required.
• Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
• Position involves some travel (25% TDY for training purposes/attend pre-bid meeting, safety/informational meeting at field sites.
• Physical Security Inspector Credentials are required.
• This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as: Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or Personnel Security. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. For GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing physical security inspections, developing written integrated security plans, verifying personnel background checks, working with local and federal security partners, briefing employees on current security situations, understanding and development of operational security plans, issuing employee identification badging, and reviewing and interpreting applicable laws and regulations to advise command. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: PhD or equivalent degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or Personnel Security. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
