As a Deputy Chief of Staff, you will assist the Chief of Staff in carrying out a variety of important assignments in connection with the management and activities of PBS.Location of position: PBS/Office of the CommissionerWe are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Duties
Provides advice and assistance on major management matters of a critical, controversial, and/or confidential nature. In this capacity, performs analysis and makes recommendations to improve performance and overall quality of the delivery of services provided by GSA.
Leads and coordinates efforts of the PBS Chiefs of Staff network in identifying, developing, and implementing myriad enterprise-wide projects intended to streamline processes and reduce the administrative burden on supervisors and managers.
Co-leads, with the PBS strategy office the PBS executive annual performance lifecycle to ensure program goals and measures align with PBS strategic initiatives.
Based on analysis of work requirements and duties, assigns work for the division goals and objectives and plans work based on priorities and milestones; establishes performance objectives and evaluates work performance, develops and implements methods for improving productions, quality of work, and morale; provides advice, counsel, or instruction on both work and administrative matters; resolves work problems. Interviews candidates for subordinate positions; recommend hiring, promotion or reassignment actions. Takes disciplinary measures as necessary, including warning and reprimands. Assesses training needs and requirements for employees, identifying developmental and training sources and providing training.
Overseas the modernization of PBS’ strategies, plan, tools, and resources to ensure greater efficiency and transparency in recruiting, staffing, training and development, and retention programs.

The GS-15 salary range starts at $163,964 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience supporting day to day business operations, managing special projects, providingoversight to key organizational priorities, , and managing a team of people assigning work for the division and enterprise goals and objectives.
