This position is in the Office of the Director (OD) of the National Science Foundation. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Project Coordinator for enterprise reform activities in the Business Operations Efficiencies (BOE) portfolio. BOE activities are the primary mechanism by which NSF provides central, catalytic support for enterprise reforms to achieve the Renewing NSF vision.
Duties
NSF launched the Renewing NSF initiative in FY 2017, and it has been instrumental in enabling the agency to respond to emerging operational needs and opportunities, and now points the way toward realizing the benefits of speed and scale envisioned in the NSF Strategic Plan. This is a new position that will expand NSF's capacity to sustainably promote and implement continuous, enterprise-scale, organizational adaptation and innovation efforts. As a Project Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:
Serves as a lead in planning, developing, coordinating, organizing, implementing, communicating, and tracking project plans and procedures and timetables.
Applies a wide range of analytical techniques for data management to identify patterns and trends as a recognized expert.
Develops tracking and reporting systems to monitor activities to ensure that activities meet guidelines and schedules.
Works collaboratively with other team members, OD staff, and Renewing NSF stakeholders to maintain and improve processes and
procedures.
Prepares or develops remarks and briefing materials for Office, Directorate and Foundation leadership as a recognized expert in the
field.
Participates in special studies.
Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 Level in the federal service serving as an expert project manager with responsibility for managing multiple, complex projects with organizational impact. Examples of relevant specialized experience include: overseeing the planning, developing, coordinating, organizing, implementing, communicating, and tracking project activities; establishing project timelines; recommending changes in policies and procedures as a result of project outcomes; coordinating with various subject matter experts, stakeholders, and resources to obtain necessary data and information; developing reports and briefing materials to outline project purposes, processes, and outcomes.
Experience refers to paid/unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) & other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, & skills & can provide valuable training/experience that translates directly to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
