This position is located in a Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC) in the organization of Chief Financial Officer, Cash Management Division with the incumbent serving as a Cashier. The CPAC is regional consolidated business entity established to enhance revenue operations through out the VHA network by standardization and consolidation of functions and the integration of VHA and industry best practices.
Duties
The incumbent serves as a Cashier is the Cash Management Division and is responsible for performing the following duties:
Performs work in support of the agency's cash processing operations which involve the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody and other clerical or administrative tasks.
Receives and disburse cash in accordance with the corresponding laws, rules, and regulations for the particular transaction.
Ensures the fulfillment of regulatory requirements associated with depository functions.
Exercises responsibility for the direct support of agency cash/ check/ electronic funds transfer processing functions involving the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody, and other clerical cash processing.
Examines collections of negotiability utilizes the VISTA system to record transactions.
Responsible to the Treasury Department for any loss or shortage in funds under his/her control.
Ensures conformance to procedures and instructions contained in the Department of Treasury Manual of Procedures and Instructions for Cashiers.
Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions.
Communicates and treats customers (Veterans, their representatives, visitors and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am -4:30pm, Full- Time

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/21/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Understanding of accounting, budget, or other financial, management regulations, practices, procedures and policies in a healthcare organization.
Extensive and diverse accounting, budgeting and or financial management operations in a healthcare organization.
Performs work which involve the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody.
Examines collections for negotiability utilizing an automated system, to record transactions.
Examines and performs quality audits of deposits in order to ensure regulatory issues are met.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary although some slight physical effort maybe required.
