This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Global, Operations Division, IDM Branch.
Duties
Provides direction for the development of countermeasures to identified CND/Network Assurance vulnerabilities and ensures appropriate critical information alerts are disseminated.
Performs studies of complex problems and researches technical issues dealing with CND/Network Assurance concerns.
Maintains detailed knowledge of the latest in IT networking techniques and standards by attending available training courses and partaking in self-initiated education.
Analyzes unrelated processes and methods to originate new techniques, establish new criteria, and develop new information in the process of overcoming this uncertainty.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This position requires shift work.
- Overtime may be required as workload demands.
- Work may require travel away from the normal duty station. In accordance with the JTR VOL II, employee may be required to travel by regularly scheduled commercial passenger or military aircraft in the performance of their assignment.
- This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the Manual.
- Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance is required.
- This is a drug test designated position.
- This is a Mission Essential position. Employee may also be required to physically report to an alternate duty station during the activation of a Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan.
- This position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications and Residential Qualifications in accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience working in an operational environment, performing incident response, command, and control of cyber events, briefing senior leadership and possess the ability to understand and facilitate the management of cyber security risks which affect operational readiness.

Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat the GG-13 grade level.
