This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U. S. Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Mission Support (DCMS), Assistant Commandant for Health, Safety and Work Life (CG-1K), Family Services Division (CG-1K12), Washington, DC.
Duties
You will serve as the lead Early Childhood Education Program Specialist for the Commandant of the Coast Guard (CG). In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert on all Early Childhood Education and Childcare Policy development, representing the CG on a variety of internal and external working groups, resource planning, and program management and evaluation of CG-wide Early Childhood Education and Childcare Programs.

Qualifications
All applicants must possess:
Basic Requirements: Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
To qualify for the GS-14, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level performing such as: planning and executing a childcare program; managing or providing work life/family support programs; developing or managing child development programs including policy development, program administration, and training activities; providing instructional methods and curriculum development for children.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
