Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Intelligence, National Border Security Intelligence Center Directorate, Southern Border Intelligence Center, Arizona Regional Intelligence Center, located in Tucson, Arizona.
Duties
In this position you will serve as a Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist. This position starts at a salary of $124,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $161,716.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $161,716 (GS-14 Step 10).
Major Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection's strategic and operational advantages in countering all homeland security threats, by identifying indicators and warnings related to terrorism and transnational organized crime networks, counter smuggling and trafficking, counterintelligence, and cyber and trade enforcement.
Promoting a common intelligence framework and unified approach to address current and emerging border security threats.
Promoting the cohesion initiative goals and objectives to ensure that intelligence capabilities, expertise and processes are integrated and leveraged to meet intelligence requirements. Facilitates management or leadership situational awareness and decision making in furtherance of border security operations.
Providing management over workforce in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, evaluating and dissemination of all-source information and intelligence to inform operations and decision making.
Supporting approved Intelligence Enterprise career paths, managing Intelligence Enterprise and Intelligence Community related training, and promoting education and professional development opportunities for subordinate workforce.
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Overseeing division level or branch level operations contributing to the production of strategic, operational or tactical intelligence outcomes and products supporting agency Intelligence Enterprise missions;
Managing division level or branch level intelligence programs ensuring successful integration with agency and/or U.S. government processes and programs through organization, planning, directing, coordinating and managing the work performed by subordinate staff;
Executing intelligence and operational assignments while providing guidance in terms of agency policies, missions, goals and objectives;
Leading the Intelligence Cycle processes and outputs relating to all source research methodologies, tradecraft standards, and report writing; and
Promoting standardized intelligence processes, information sharing, partnerships, and strategic external alliances.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. If you do not meet the residency requirement and you have been physically located in a foreign location for more than two of the last five years, you may request an exception to determine if you are eligible for a residency waiver by meeting one or more of the following conditions:
Working for the U.S. Government as a federal civilian or as a member of the military

Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
