Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Engineering Technician. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
Duty Location: Lakewood, Colorado
Duties
Performs material testing to include but not limited to earthwork tests, aggregate tests, rock tests, and riprap tests. Helps train newer staff on such tests.
Coordinates with engineers, scientists and other employees in the execution of laboratory and field-testing programs and research investigations. Assists in coordinating workload of other technicians.
Compiles data reflecting laboratory test results and lab work, construction progress, and data for engineering estimates and reports.
Cleans, calibrates, and maintains standard and custom test equipment in accordance with standards and guidelines.
Requests services and repairs and recommends purchase of new or improved equipment as required.
Promotes technical quality of laboratory and field testing and implements laboratory Quality Control programs. Trains staff on the use of data management systems.
Reviews and/or develops standard operating procedures and Job Hazard Analyses, functions as the Group's Collateral Duty Safety Representative.
Provides safety related training to other staff including but not limited to Forklift Operator Training and Job Hazard Analysis Training. Helps develop required curriculum.
Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.
Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:
Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirement, you must also possess the specialized experience for the GS-0802-10 grade level.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level. Examples include performing soil, rock, aggregate, riprap, or concrete tests for a large, fee-for-service laboratory, as well as responsibilities including maintenance and calibration of specialized laboratory equipment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 02/15/2024.

This position does not allow substituting education for experience.
