The primary purpose of this position is to provide executive support in the planning and execution of the daily operations of the Deputy Commander (DCOM), Pacific Air Forces.
Developmental position (GS-11) works closely with the supervisor in performing duties identified in the full performance standard core personnel document/core document.
Duties
Supports the PACAF Deputy Commander.
Provides administrative support for the Deputy Commander.
Controls the Deputy Commander's calendar.
Plans, organizes, and executes complex programs, meetings, and visits (e.g., visits from senior government representatives, senior foreign government representatives, PACOM, NAF and wing commanders).
Serves as oversight for Defense Travel System actions for the Deputy Commander.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Knowledge of security practices for ensuring the safeguarding of classified information is required.
- PCS expenses are not authorized. Travel and relocation will not be paid.

- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours which may include overtime, compensatory time, or credit hour work.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
GS-11:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include analyzing and measuring effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of administrative and technical programs; assessing programs/projects, analyzing findings and making recommendations on substantive operating programs; preparing staff reports, briefings and skill in organizing and delivering presentations to managers; and managing supervisor calendar such as arranging and scheduling appropriate office calls, meetings, briefings, roundtable discussions, luncheons, and social events and organizing and planning mission critical and key leader engagements for the supervisor and supporting staff.
OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. GS-12:

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level.
One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of staff operations management concepts, principles, and methodologies.
Knowledge of military command mission, objectives, and procedures to include: knowledge of various command entities involved in overall planning and execution of manpower, personnel, and services operations.
Knowledge of military command structure, programs and organizational relationships and program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones and methods of evaluating and planning actions as related to actual events.
Skill in basic analytical ability to discern short, medium, and long-term effects of changes in staff operations practices, procedures, and policies, and to effectively analyze the various components of staff operations as part of an integrated whole.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Utmost tact and diplomacy are required to meet all requirements and ensure all contacts are handled appropriately.
Ability to negotiate complex issues and maintain good working relationships.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
