The Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) Training Instructor will work alongside the PMDB Coordinator and will have reporting responsibilities to the facility's Workplace Violence Prevention Program Coordinator. They will be responsible for facilitating educational Training programs to enhance existing skills and promote growth of employees. They will also provide counseling and resources to those individuals who are interested in self-development.
Duties
As the Training Specialist the incumbent provides initial and ongoing orientation for inpatient/outpatient and CBOC Medical Support Assistants (MSAs), including supervision of all orientation activities, remediation of problem employees and documentation of orientation. Responsibilities include implementation of classroom, laboratory, and on-the job educational experiences and validation of competencies. Other duties may include but not limited to:

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/19/2024.Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For the GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07.The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
To qualify at the GS-7 grade level:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge and skill in instruction and understanding of the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) model. Knowledge and skill in applying and instructing the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior courses; Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents which affect PMDB; Knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the organization; Skill in conducting detailed analyses of complex functions and work processes; (5) Interpersonal skills in teaching classes and working with staff; Knowledge of medical factors that support medical monitoring of a physically disruptive patient. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed one (1) full year of graduate education leading towards a master's degree, or have superior academic achievement. To be qualifying, major study must be in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. NOTE: Transcripts required if using education. Official transcripts accepted.
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements, and may be computed by the first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for the grade level. NOTE: Transcripts required if using education. Official transcripts accepted.
To qualify at the GS-9 grade level:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of theories, principles, procedures and practices of adult or continuing education; Skilled in counseling adults regarding violence prevention and disruptive behavior; Use existing guidelines policies regarding career workplace violence and prevention programs; Research adult education and trends independently to incorporate the most effective methods within prevention programs: Provides guidance and advice on the implementation of educational programs, projects and/or activities, and on the problems and issues encountered within those activities. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D., if related. To be qualifying, major study must be in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. OR, NOTE: Transcripts required if using education. Official transcripts accepted.
