Duties
Supervise subordinate employees while ensuring seamless operations in the public safety communication center.
Assist the Center Manager in the development and maintenance of complex dispatch operating plans, guides, protocols, directories, operating systems, databases, intellingence sources, and other reference/training material.
Ensure that staff have the skills, training, motivation, tools, and resources to be effective, resilient, and healthy in their roles within communication center.
Plan and schedule work to be accomplished by subordinates, reviews work and performance, and performs employee appraisals and evaluations.
Act in a leadership role as an emergency contact and is responsive to questions and problems that staff encounter. Also ensures continuity of operations and that the center meets minimum staffing levels.
Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-10 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: leading and providing direction to personnel within a public safety communication center; training and providing continuing education to new and established employees; serving as a point-of-contact for day-to-day operations; in addition to performing the role of dispatcher. . You must include hours per week worked in your resume.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
