This position is located within the ORD Research Service, Brain Rehabilitation Research Center at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. The primary purpose of this position is to assist with supporting aspects of conducting research studies and research related activities that support the organization and operation of Research Service.
Duties

NOTE: This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 3 Years). Term appointments are non-status, non-permanent appointments of limited duration. Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Term appointments may be extended without further competition.
Major Duties:
Assists investigators in preparing documents for the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Health Information Portability and Protection Act (HIPPA), and VA RR&D grant applications and reports.
Assists with grant activity for investigators.
Gathers, develops, and checks accuracy of information with subject-matter specialist and/or program officials.
Analyzes, selects, and organizes information to present internally or externally considering organization policy.
Serves as a Contract Officer Representative (COR)
Receives requests for contract services and prepares the contracts.
Assists with the preparation of career development and merit review proposals with Research Service.
Serves as the organization's liaison to purchasing/procurement offices.
Serves the role of timekeeper or approver for the department.
Responsible for obtaining VA computer access for VA employees.
Prepares paperwork for personnel actions.
Assists the Budget Analyst as needed.
Performs work involving the collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information.
Performs work related to the acquisition and/or development of program information.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Qualifications
TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
EXPERIENCE: Must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience may include experience as assisting with grant activities, assist with principal investigators in preparing grant submissions, work with grant specialist to develop research contract; oversee inventory process for organization, serve as timekeeper, experience maintaining automated system of program-specific data to track items such as project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc.

EDUCATION SUBTITUTION: Must possess a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. if related. (Transcripts Required)

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position. (Transcripts Required)
