You will serve as a FACILITY OPERATIONS SPECIALIST in the Facilities Support Branch (Code 985) of the Production Facility and Equipment Management Division (Code 980), Production Facilities and Equipment Division (Code 900F), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will will serve as point of contact for facilities status completion of corrective and preventive maintenance and various other data. You will identify and report fire and safety deficiencies through facility and zone inspections. You will maintain and update an emergency action plan (EAP) for assigned areas. You will serve as a communications link between NAVSEA and NAVFAC.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

Facility Operations Specialist GS 1640-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience performing custodial assignments in NNSY assigned spaces - Experience planning and completing routine assignments in accordance with pertinent regulatory material. - Experience monitoring progression of work to completion through a series of inspections. - Experience facilitating installation and removal of facility related machinery, systems and equipment necessary to conduct business within assigned spaces to support NAVFAC and Contractors. - Experience coordinating all contractor work, including that of NAVFAC. - Experience assisting designated facilities with tenant force protection conditions by randomly inspecting the interior/exterior of facilities for threat indicators. Facility Operations Specialist GS 1640-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience correcting deficiencies found by inspections. - Experience addressing report and repair issues involving the safe, continued use of these utilities in the facility(s). - Experience ensuring the industrial facility, machinery and equipment, systems, utilities, and support functions remain viable to allow the work of the shops and codes to continue uninterrupted. - Experience serving as the facility safety and security monitor for all contractor work, including that of NAVFAC, in assigned facilities. - Experience identifying and eliminating the excessive use of energy for domestic and customer work use. GS-11:
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
