This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate, Office of University Programs (OUP).
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a junior program manager/analyst focused on workforce development efforts as well as engagement and partnership development with minority serving academic institutions administered by OUP.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Program Analyst, GS-0343-12, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Keeps senior program manager informed about the status of projects, implementation and updated plans, outcomes, any problems anticipated or encountered.
Coordinate with managers and administrative staff members of the agency to obtain information to develop sound plans to improve program management.
Conducts other program management responsibilities such as site visits -
Provides feedback on project work plans and products.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
Experience adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity;
Experience preparing and delivering management briefings on study findings and recommendations;
Experience applying knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes and administrative operations; and
Experience applying knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, STEM research, education and workforce development issues.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
