You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER in the office of the Director, Maritime Headquarters of COMMANDER US PACIFIC FLEET.

Duties

You will serve as a focal point and represents COMPACFLT in technical matters related to the operational safety, occupational health, and off duty safety programs. You will manage safety data information systems that includes on duty and off duty injuries, illnesses, operational property damage, and various safety program elements. You will interpret SOH standards and regulations and develops or participates in developing new or revised standards. You will review, analyzes, and endorses mishap investigation reports for Class A mishaps. You will plan, develop and carry out critical SOH programs and projects that have agency -wide and potential international (standards) impact.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating a safety and occupational health program to develop organizational policy, resolve technical issues, and provide guidance to ensure compliance of safety and occupational health regulations in a shipyard or industrial environment.
