Duties
Serve as principal administrative support assistant for the Area Office.
Responsible for the accomplishment of the clerical, administrative and office automation functions of the Area Office.
Work requires broad understanding and detailed procedural knowledge of budget, purchasing, personnel, and information processing functions of the office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License and visit other locations by driving government vehicle and by other means.
- Incumbent is required to travel approximately 5% of the time.
- Incumbent is required to wear protective equipment and/or clothing (e.g., hard hat, coveralls, gloves, safety footwear) as appropriate.
- This position is subject to a physical requirement.
- A qualified typist is required. Must be able to type 40 WPM.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Utilizing an automated software to compile statistical data and reports, 2) Monitoring suspense dates for office staff, 3) Resolving problems associated with administrative and clerical aspects of the office AND 4) Acting as timekeeper for an office. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
