The primary purpose of the position is to serve in the capacity of Program Support Assistant (PSA) to the Windward CBOC in providing administrative management of programs and processes. The PSA assists with a wide variety of administrative and clerical tasks essential to meet the requirements of the CBOC operations including compliance with directives and regulations from VACO, VISN21, VAPIHCS, Joint Commission, etc.
Duties
As a Program Support Assistant, you will:
Performs assignments involving a wide variety of duties by using a broad range of audit techniques, analytical ability, and statistical knowledge to interpret varied and complex factual situations in the context of CBOC and service regulations and policies.
Exercises independent and sound judgment and adapts to changing needs and requirements of CBOC and service.
Analyzes workflow (e.g. redundant tasks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for more automation) to determine potential problem areas and makes recommendations to correct these areas and to improve coordination between the various sections.
Responsible for the administrative adherence to service policies and procedures.
Participates in the identification and resolution of problems concerning space, personnel, budget and equipment needs for the CBOC
Coordinates with COR in preparation of new contracts, contract renewals, statements of work, and other duties relating to vendors supplying services to CBOC.
Monitors all CBOC contracts, e.g., security guard, maintenance, environmental, and others related to services, the building, and the property and assists VAPIHCS Facilities Management with assuring performance and adherence to contract requirements.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 0730-1600

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/22/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Typing Proficiency: You must be able to type 40 words per minute.
In addition to the Typing Proficiency, you must meet the Specialized Experience described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, Knowledge and understanding of the principles of health care administration and medical center's mission and operations management objectives, practices, methods, and techniques necessary to assist in evaluating the center's administrative support function. Knowledge of the organizational structure, policies, procedures, and regulatory guides to provide assistance and assurance that CBOC is in compliance with overall operations of the health care facility. Knowledge to access and retrieve data from different software programs to include Pro Clarity, Vista, PCMM, etc.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Physical demands do not exceed those of a typical office setting. There may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
