This positions serves as an Accounting Technician in Finance Services at the VA Healthcare Systems in Gainesville, Florida, and maintains Subsidiary Records for medical care appropriations. The incumbent also serves as the Federal Agency Travel Administrator (FATA) for the entire North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NFSGVHS) and as the Alternate Agency/Organization Program Coordinator (A/OPC) for the government travel charge card program.
Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Uses accounting regulations, laws, procedures, and policies related to the Medical Center financial management functions to ensure compliance.
Examines, verifies, and maintains financial accounts and accounting data.
Performs clerical, assistant, or technician level work in support of a budget, accounting, audit, fiscal, and financial management function.
Receives and analyzes various types of documents to determine propriety, validity, budget, and expenditure limitation completeness.
Utilizes accounting procedures relating to appropriations control, transfer of funds, reimbursements of expenditures, and handling of payments.
Performs budget administration support, financial systems support, cash processing, and accounting technician work.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: Posses at least (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties independently of an Accounts Technician, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: maintaining financial accounts and data; analyzes various documents to determine accuracy of accounting data; processing payments to vendors and customers; and advises on entitlements and expenses. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, and bending, incumbent may be required to lift and move files/printouts. However, alternate cashier duties may require some minimal physical exertion such as lifting a cash box. Travel may be required between medical center to the various out-post medical center locations.
Work Environment: The employee works in an office setting involving everyday risks or discomforts. Work assignments require incumbent to use a computer requiring a considerable amount of keyboarding while sitting. Normal safety precautions are required.
